St. Louis Looking to Foles as QB of Future.

How many years has it been since the St. Louis Rams had the ‘Greatest Show on Turf’? We aren’t sure, and it is especially hard for Rams fans to even remember. The Rams used to be one of the most entertaining teams in the NFL thanks to Kurt Warner, Marshal Faulk, and Torry Holt. Then Marc Bulger came in and did some good things and now it’s been a decade since St. Louis was anything more than a powderpuff team to breeze by during the NBA regular season. Much of the reason for their struggles can be set right before the play of their starting QB. St. Louis, however, hopes that this won’t be the case going forward. The Rams allegedly want to sign Nick Foles to a long term extension and make him the future of their franchise.

According to The Street, Nick Foles was traded to St. Louis in a swap for Sam Bradford. Last season Foles was given charge of the Eagles offense for the second year in a row after his impressive rookie campaign, but things didn’t go quite as smoothly. LeSean McCoy and the running game never got going and the passing game never found their rhythm. So we ended up seeing Foles taken out of the game several times.

Now Foles will be charged with leading a Rams team that lacks weapons and a team identity. The hope here is that Foles can revert to his ability from a few years ago. It’s a risky gamble for a franchise that desperately needs a win.
