About the Fortress Investment Group
Fortress Investment Group is a private equity firm that was formed back in 1998 to serve as an alternative asset manager. The firm has clients from all over the world that it manages. The clients range from private equity, hedge funds, private equity, credit liquids, and traditional assets. The firm has also invested in other sectors in the economy, which includes liquid credit investment. They have also ventured into commercial real estate assets and also offer customized financing solutions.
The American-based firm has its headquarters in New York. The firm was founded by three investors who included Wes Edens, Randal Nardone, and Rob Kauffman. The firm was launched in February 2007, and it became the first large private equity firm to go public. The firm since then grew tremendously, and as of 2020, it was estimated to be managing $45billlion of assets.
Fortress Investment Group has also received some awards by 2014; Fortress Investment Group was named the Hedge Fund Manager of the Year. The institution has also been recognized as a Discretionary Macro-focused Hedge fund of the year. In 2006 Fortress purchased ski resort, one of the best ski resorts in the US. In 2007 they also announced that they would be partnering with Centerbridge to purchase the Penn National Gaming.
Fortress Investment Group has also made some of its portfolio public: Senior Living Inc., RailAmerica Inc., and many others. Fortress also admitted to having lost over $125 million purchasing the fraudulent promissory notes. As a result, they filed a lawsuit in the New York state court in an attempt to recover the loss.
